Chicken wings can be intimidating to make especially with all the anticipation surrounding them. You do not need to be a grilling expert, there are many different cooking methods. Try using an airfryer, they make an amazing crispy wing in half the time. Using an oven is often overlooked but can also create the perfect outcome. The secret to a crispy wing is making sure your wings are dry before cooking them. Try lining a sheet tray with paper towel and leave them uncovered in the fridge overnight. Another pro tip is coating them with 1/4 tbsp of baking powder before cooking allowing the skin to get even crispier. Lastly, don’t forget to season liberally!
Grilling:
The key here is seasoning and heat control. To prevent the wings from sticking oil your grates with a hand towel. Use a high smoking point oil like canola, grape seed, peanut or avocado.
Set up your grill into zones, direct and indirect. Maintaining 400 degrees. Start the process on the indirect side until you get an internal temp of 165 degrees. Then relocate to the direct heat side to get the crispy outside.
⭐️ sauce last!
Airfryer:
Great method and cuts the time down to roughly 16 minutes( if you cook a pound at a time)
Set the wings up on the tray but do not over crowd them( this will lead to steamed wings and not crispy ones) ⭐️ Wings Need Their Space!
Cook at 400 degrees for 8 minutes each side.
Baked:
This method works especially if you are new at this and don’t want to deal with the grill.
⭐️ Space and patience is key here. Wings take 45 minutes to an hour in the oven at 400 degrees so allow them time.
Make sure to spread the wings out with space in between, if you have a cooking rack that is optimal to achieve crispness! Put a foil lined pan underneath to prevent a mess.
